Troubleshooting your printer

My printer is not working

If your printer has stopped working or is not printing order tickets, work through these steps:

  1. Check the Basics First

  • Is the printer powered on? Check the power indicator light.

  • Is there paper loaded? Open the printer and confirm the paper roll is loaded correctly and not empty.

  • Are there any error lights? Check for any flashing or red indicator lights.

  • Is Bluetooth or WiFi still active? On your tablet, confirm Bluetooth or WiFi is still enabled.

2. Restart the Printer

Turn the printer off completely, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Then open the Bamboo app and try to trigger a print by re-opening a recent order.

3. Check the Printer Connection in the Bamboo App

  1. Tap the menu icon (☰) in the Bamboo app.

  2. Tap Printers.

  3. Tap your printer profile.

  4. If it shows as disconnected, tap Connect Printer and follow the on-screen steps to reconnect.

4. Reconnect via PrintHub

  1. In the Bamboo app, go to Printers → tap your profile → tap Connect Printer → select your connection type.

  2. A new PIN code will be generated. Copy it.

  3. Open the PrintHub app on the tablet home screen.

  4. Tap Continue → enter the PIN → select your printer profile → tap Connect Printer.

  5. Select your printer manufacturer and connection type → tap Search → select your printer from the list.

5. Restart the Bamboo App

Close and reopen the Bamboo app after reconnecting the printer. Then test by printing from a recent order in Orders History.

Common printer issues

  • Receipts printing blank - Thermal printers use heat-sensitive paper. If the paper roll is loaded upside down, it will print blank. Try removing the paper roll and reloading it in the opposite orientation.

  • Printer keeps disconnecting - This is usually a Bluetooth interference or distance issue. Move the tablet closer to the printer. If using WiFi/LAN, check that the printer's network connection is stable. Consider switching connection types.

  • Garbled or cut-off text - This may indicate a paper width mismatch or a settings issue. Contact our team with your printer model and we will help diagnose it.

  • Nothing prints but printer shows as connected - Check that paper is loaded correctly. Check for error lights. Make sure the printer is not in a paused or offline state. Try restarting both the printer and the app.
