Connecting your printer

Your printer ships free with your tablet

Every Bamboo tablet ships with a compatible receipt printer, at no cost. Connect it using the steps below. If you'd rather use a printer you already have, you can connect that instead, as long as it's a supported model.

Connecting your printer to the Bamboo app is done through the PrintHub app, which is already installed on your tablet's home screen. The process uses a temporary PIN code to link your printer profile in the Bamboo app to PrintHub.

💡 Before you start: make sure your printer is powered on and within range of your tablet. Have your printer's connection type ready - most printers use Bluetooth or WiFi/LAN. If you're connecting your own printer rather than the one that shipped with your tablet, confirm it's a supported model before you begin.

Step 1 - create a printer profile in the Bamboo app

  1. Open the Bamboo app and tap your location.

  2. Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top left corner.

  3. Tap Printers.

  4. Tap the + button in the bottom right corner.

  5. Fill in the profile details: Profile Name (name it something descriptive like 'Kitchen' or 'Front Counter'), Customer Receipt Copies (recommend starting with 1), Kitchen Receipt Copies (recommend starting with 1).

  6. Tap Save Profile.

Step 2 - generate a PIN code

After saving your printer profile, you will see a Connect Printer button. Tap it and select your connection type (Bluetooth or WiFi/LAN). A PIN code will be generated and displayed on screen. This PIN is temporary - it will expire, so move to the next step quickly.

Step 3 - open PrintHub and connect

  1. Open the PrintHub app on the tablet home screen.

  2. Tap Continue.

  3. Enter the PIN code from the Bamboo app.

  4. Select your printer profile from the list.

  5. Tap Connect Printer.

  6. Select your printer manufacturer and connection type.

  7. Tap Search - your printer will appear in the list.

  8. Select your printer from the list to complete the connection.

Connection types

  • Bluetooth - connect wirelessly if your printer supports it. Keep the tablet within range of the printer during service.

  • WiFi/LAN - connect over your network. More stable for busy kitchens. Printer and tablet must be on the same network.

Do I need a printer?

Yes. Printed receipts are part of every order — delivery drivers scan the receipt to confirm pickup and delivery — so a connected printer is required to fulfill Bamboo orders. Your printer ships free, and if you'd rather use your own, you can connect it if it's a supported model.

Can I change my printer later?

Return to the Printers section in the Bamboo app at any time to update your printer profile, change connection settings, or add a second printer.

Supported printer models

Your own printer is supported if it's one of the following, connected the way listed. A model can still fail to connect if it's running old firmware, even though it's a supported model.
